Breeding

Out of love for the profession of breeding, stable Maarten Kamphuis breeds annually with one broodmare. This tradition starts at Paul Kamphuis, the father of Maarten. In 1992 he bought a full blood mare of the Denneboom heritage. This full blood mare, cald Sablre xx, is a descended of the stud Tangelo xx. Paul Kamphuis’ devotion to the deceased stud Jasper led to the impregnation of Sabre xx by Jaspers son Boreas. This resulted in a mare called Laurie. Later Laurie changed ownership to Peter Kamphuis, an uncle of Maarten. Peter settled Laurie on the age of three by the stud Kojak. From this combination foal Olanta was born in 1996. Hereafter Laurie was sold after a couple of b-courses.

In the meantime the foal Olanta grew up and came in co- ownership of Maarten as a four year old. Maarten managed to qualify Olanta for the final of the IAN-trophy. In this final Olanta was driven by Peter Geerink who managed to bring out her full potential. After the second day Olanta shared first place in the ranking in a participant field of 180 horses! Soon after she was sold to stable Stenfert in France.

The success of Olanta was not a lucky shot. After extensive research full blood mare Sabre xx turn out to be a descended of a well-known Irish horse tribe known for the breed of several excellent sporting horses.

Hereafter Maarten decided to trace back mare Laurie, the mother of Olanta. It appeared the Laurie found her way to the mounted police and after harsh negotiations Maarten managed to successfully redeem the mare. Maarten decided to once again settle Laurie by the stud Kojak which resulted in a mare called ‘Up Town girl’ in 2001. This mare was trained till level M and then sold to Slovenia. Here Up town girl turned out to be very success with Young Riders amazon Tajda Bosio in the 1,40 metres class.

In 2003 Laurie was impregnated by Karandasj. This combination led to the birth of a black stud foal called Woody. Woody was sold to the Munsterhuis family is trained to become one of the future horses of rider Jochem Munsterhuis.

The year after Laurie gave birth to a mare foal called Zinniz. She is expected to become a very promising sporting horse.

In 2007 Laurie gave birth to a mare foal of the number one stud in the world, called Caroline. This mare was also sold to the Munsterhuis family.

Mare Olanta, Laurie’s first foal, nowadays goes by the name of Sassicais and competes in grand-prix with rider Henri Kovacks. The successful breeding line of Laurie is marked by the outstanding results of her children.
